Product Description

Calcium Chloride

Role of calcium chloride in aquaculture:

1. The control of PH value of water quality requires calcium chloride.

The pH suitable for aquatic animals is neutral and weakly alkaline (that is, pH 7.0~8.5), and when the pH becomes abnormally high (that is, pH ≥9.5), it will cause adverse reactions such as slowing down the growth rate of cultured animals, increasing the feed coefficient and morbidity. Therefore, reducing pH is an important technical measure to regulate pond water quality. The pH of calcium chloride is neutral and cannot be used as a pH regulator, but calcium chloride can precipitate hydroxide ions through its own calcium ions, and at the same time flocculate and precipitate phytoplankton, slowing down the CO2 consumption of algae, thereby reducing pH.

2. Calcium is needed to maintain the balance of algae growth.

Fertilizing water before releasing seedlings, such as the lack of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and other elements in the water (especially freshwater shrimp), algae is difficult to grow and reproduce, resulting in difficult fertilizing water or easy cleaning of the pool water.

Calcium is needed to maintain water stability and improve buffering performance.

Aquaculture water requires a certain hardness, aquaculture water with a high content of calcium and magnesium, not only can stabilize the water quality and the pH of the bottom material, improve the buffering capacity of water, but also conducive to the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, accelerate the decomposition and mineralization of organic matter, and accelerate the recycling of plant nutrients.

Shrimp and crabs can't grow without calcium.

The growth of crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs should be completed through continuous moulting and hard shells, so they need to absorb a lot of calcium from the water and feed to meet the growth needs, and intensive farming methods often make the content of mineral salts in the water is seriously insufficient. Insufficient absorption of calcium and phosphorus can cause shrimp and crab shells to not harden properly, resulting in soft shell disease or shell failure, slow growth, seriously affecting the normal growth of shrimp and crab.

The advantages of calcium chloride as animal calcium supplement;

Crayfish, river crabs and so on are cladhorn crustaceans, their shell and body structure support are calcium as the main component, and each moult growth needs a lot of calcium to re-form a new shell and fast hard shell. In addition, when the hard shell of shrimp and crab gained weight after the last molting, the individual with a thick shell was relatively thicker, fuller and heavier than the individual with the same shape and size, except for the internal tissue and water. Calcium is also one of the important elements of gonad maturation and expansion.

The growth and accumulation of shrimp and crabs require a large amount of calcium, which can basically be obtained from feed, but also from water directly through respiration and body surface membrane infiltration, through a special open body structure and breathing mode of direct absorption. Therefore, it also makes sense to supplement and water directly from feed.

At present, the calcium source in aquaculture feed is mostly calcium carbonate (quicklime). Although calcium content is high (40%), the price is cheap, but the solubility is low (only 0.56%), when dissolved, it mainly relies on stomach acid, which will neutralize and produce carbon dioxide from stomach acid, resulting in gastrointestinal swelling of animals, seriously affecting the eating and digestion of animals. In addition, CO32- and zinc, copper, iron plasma easily form difficult to precipitate, interfere with the absorption of these ions, easy to cause food waste and environmental pollution. In order to solve the two important problems of calcium dissolution and absorption, it is necessary to artificially apply calcium chloride products to crab and shrimp ponds.
